OUR STORY

SYMPHONY by CHEF JO. is rooted in the philosophy of quality food with a personalized experience. We take inspiration from classic dishes from around the world, where the flavours of each dish is elevated through authentic ingredients and thoughtful plating.

The modern-rustic design of our restaurant reflects our culinary approach: modern interpretation of classic and unpretentious foods. The warm and earthy colours of the restaurant ooze a relaxing atmosphere, whilst our bustling open show kitchen makes for a lively and industrial ambience.

The Chief

CHEF JO.

Chef Johari Edrus was the Chef Association of Malaysia’s President from 2005 – 2008 and is currently the President of Malay Culinary Society of Malaysia. In September 2011, he was named the National Expert in the WorldSkills Competition (Skills Olympic) representing Malaysia in London.

His iconology grew with his appearance in MasterChef Malaysia and MasterChef Malaysia Celebrity (reality cooking show) as juror and host. In his spare time Chef Jo has generated innovative culinary ideas and contributed towards the success of a number of events which have been recorded in the Malaysia Book of Record (MBR).

SYMPHONY by CHEF JO. is a testament of Chef Jo’s over 40 years’ experience in international culinary and hospitality.

Gastronomic Manager

Chef Yus

Chef Yusny Bin Anuar, or more affectionately known as Chef Yus BA is the Kitchen Manager of SYMPHONY by CHEF JO. Chef Yus has been in the food industry for 20 years having worked for several large establishments ranging from comfort food restaurants, steakhouses to high-end restaurants.

Other than overseeing the 13 men-strong cooks in SYMPHONY by CHEF JO.’s kitchen, he is an active member and chef consultant for Foodstylist Malaysia, Malaysian Chef Connection (MCC) and Chefs Association of Malaysia (CAM).

Chef Yus dedicates his life as a chef in the name of his late mother, Allahyarhamah Roaini bt. Mat Salleh, who inspired him with her talent and passion for cooking.

Show Kitchen & Pitzaal Station

Our show kitchen is our pride and unique feature. It is where our culinary brigade entertains our customers with their cooking flair. The exposed kitchen contributes to a vibrant and lively ambience of the restaurant, and customers may sit at a counter table facing the kitchen, for a heightened dining experience (watch your meal being prepared and cooked and then have it served to you fresh off the stove!).

For private dining or events – we are happy to accommodate your party or corporate events with a customised menu and beverage package. SYMPHONY by CHEF JO. has 4 spacious seating areas, 2 private rooms and al fresco dining area. Chiller Rooms (Private Dining)

Located at the “Star Anise” section are our private rooms Walk-in-Chiller #1 and Walk-in-Chiller #2.

The rooms set themselves apart from other private dining rooms, featuring a storage chiller design that is typically found in commercial kitchens. Constructed using real floor-to-ceiling insulated panels used for cold storage, the style is contrasted with wooden dining table and chairs.

Walk-in-Chiller #1 and Walk-in-Chiller #2 seat 8 and 12 guests respectively and are available for booking for private meetings, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner.

Pastry Room (Semi-Private Dining)

Inspired from the French Patisserie Rooms, you can also dine at our semi-private dining room, called the Pastry Room. We decided to bring a little French decor here, complete with an elegant setup designed to capture a whimsical, romantic feel. You are at once secluded, and at the same time equipped with a lookout view of our spacious environs. Perfect for momentous events with your loved ones!

Seats 2 to 4 people. No minimum spending, but guests are encouraged to book in advance.

Chef’s Table

Embark on a journey of culinary discovery with a unique dining experience in the SYMPHONY by CHEF JO’s kitchen. The Chef’s Table is a custom-designed, interactive culinary experience featuring SYMPHONY by CHEF JO’s finest cuisine and beverages.

Take your seat in an alcove of the restaurant kitchen, with a perfect view of the chefs at work. Watch the experts as they prepare specific dishes. Take the opportunity to discuss the recipes with them and talk about the inspiration behind each flavour combination.

For those who want to get to know what we’re all about –we love change when it comes to our menus! There are too many delectable dishes just waiting to be crafted and we always want to keep our guests excited to come back and try something new. That being said, there have been a few dishes that were just too good to part with – so we left them on the menu… You’re welcome!

Right now, we offer a six-course tasting menu or degustation menu that incorporates Chef Jo’s French cooking technique with market fresh ingredients to create a focused menu of flavorsome eclectic food. Complement your dishes with INAH, superior grape juice from South Africa with a choice of Merlot, Shiraz or Cabernet Sauvignon flavours.
